Support cocoa excellence
To support cocoa excellence, the Lindt & Sprüngli Farming Program focuses on investing in responsible sourcing of cocoa and sourcing certified and traceable cocoa.
Invest in responsible sourcing of cocoa
Our commitment
We aim to invest CHF 300 million into our cocoa Farming Program between 2026 and 2030.
Our approach
Our planned investment in cocoa includes funding of projects and initiatives as well as certification costs. These investments also allow us to provide our suppliers and implementation partners with tools, training, and the financial means to work towards our Farming Program objectives. In 2025, Lindt & Sprüngli invested CHF 35.1 million in responsible sourcing of cocoa. This includes Farming Program investments as well as costs for certification and projects with external partners. Not included is the Living Income Differential.
As part of our global Responsible Sourcing Approach, we embed social and environmental aspects into our cocoa sourcing by setting expectations towards our cocoa suppliers (for example in our Supplier Code of Conduct or Human Rights Policy) conducting risk assessments, and implementing a due diligence process aimed at preventing, mitigating, and, addressing adverse impacts across our organization and supply chain.
We build long-term strategic partnerships with cocoa suppliers to foster stability, trust, and shared responsibility. These serve as a basis for activities in Farming Program countries, linking the initiatives of the program to the physical supply chain where possible by establishing multi-year supply agreements for the major share of cocoa volumes, collaborating on the implementation of Lindt & Sprüngli's guidelines for suppliers that complement Rainforest Alliance certification requirements and requiring farmers to be registered to the Lindt & Sprüngli Farming Program.
Source certified and traceable cocoa
Our commitment
We aim to continue to source 100% of our cocoa volumes according to a Responsible Sourcing Standard annually between 2026 and 2030.
Our approach to source certified cocoa
In 2025, 100% of our cocoa products, including beans, butter, powder, and chocolate mass, were sourced through the Lindt & Sprüngli Farming Program or other Responsible Sourcing Standards. As of 2026, we require our sourced cocoa to meet the requirements of the Rainforest Alliance certification. The Group will continue its commitment to the Farming Program as its Responsible Sourcing Standard for cocoa. The Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard aligns with the Farming Program’s objectives and thus serves as a complementary baseline for the Group’s cocoa sourcing. Activities within the Group’s Farming Program are implemented in addition to the Rainforest Alliance certification.
Our approach to source traceable cocoa
Sourcing traceable cocoa includes establishing traceability from the farm to the first point of purchase (first mile traceability). In 2025, Lindt & Sprüngli achieved 100% first mile traceability for our cocoa products, including beans, butter, powder, and chocolate mass.
As of 2026, we require our sourced cocoa to meet the requirements of the Rainforest Alliance certification. Therefore, we apply the different traceability types as defined by the Rainforest Alliance. We use different traceability types depending on the cocoa product and market availability, and disclose the amount of volumes sourced under each model in our Sustainability Statement.
